Recording of a seminar on the history of Ďáblický Cemetery and other secret burial sites of victims of totalitarian regimes (23 June 2022)

More than thirty years after the fall of the communist regime, mass grave sites still exist in the Czech Republic where the remains of victims and opponents of totalitarian regimes of the 20th century are secretly buried. One of the most famous is the burial site in Prague's Ďáblice.
The seminar, which took place on 23 June 2022 at the Prague City Hall, aimed to contribute to the discussion on the shape of these places of memory and how to commemorate them with dignity. The seminar was jointly prepared by the Museum of Memory of the 20th Century, the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, the Cabinet of Documentation and History of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic and the Association of Former Political Prisoners. The speakers were Ladislav Kudrna, Martin Vadas, Aleš Kýr, Alena Šimánková, Jiří Línek, Petra Vinařová, Luděk Navara and Daniel Vaněk. The seminar was moderated by Petr Blažek and Jan Kalous.
For those who could not attend the seminar, video and photo galleries are available.
