In December 1980, for a brief moment, it looked as if the Warsaw Pact troops, including the Czechoslovak ones, would try to repeat the August 1968 advance and provide fraternal aid to the Poles this time.
On the 40th anniversary of "Operation Krkonoše", historians Petr Blažek, Łukasz Kamiński and Eduard Stehlík will discuss the Czechoslovak regime's approach to the "Polish contagion" of Solidarity.
The debate will be moderated by Michael Žantovský.
The discussion is organized by the Václav Havel Library, the Polish Institute in Prague and the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century.
