A new issue of XX will be published on 19 April 2024.
The third issue of the Yearbook of the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century contains a number of studies, articles and interviews and will be available in the Kosmas bookstore.
The journal contains, among other things, texts on collection objects, some of which will be part of the permanent exhibition. This exhibition is being prepared by the museum for the House of the Couple in Hradčany, its future headquarters. The yearbook presents the process of the ongoing reconstruction of the House of Pážat, including visualizations prepared by Studio IXA under the direction of doc. Tomáš Hradečný.
We also look back at the summer school for high school students or the 4th annual Unbreakable and Sacrificed festival, whose main theme was film images of the anti-communist resistance in Central and Eastern Europe.
An interview with Petr Pithart was conducted in connection with the upcoming exhibition on Pavel Tigrid. The introductory section contains a study of the division of Cyprus in 1974 and the role of American diplomacy in this conflict. The authors also discuss the Czechoslovak footprint in these events. The yearbook also includes an excerpt from a forthcoming book on the relationship between Zbyněk Fišer (known by his artistic pseudonym Egon Bondy) and the State Security. The well-known poet, writer and philosopher worked intermittently for many years as a secret collaborator of the secret police, for whom he performed various tasks.
The personal story of Marie and Vlasta Štěrbová recalls one of the criminal operations of the communist State Security, code-named "Stone". Its victims were citizens who after February 1948 decided to leave their homeland for exile.
