History as a surreal carnival and a black grotesque. We cordially invite you to the opening of Pavel Vošický's exhibition, organised by the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century together with the Hybernská Campus, on 24 February 2022 at 6 p.m., as well as to a reading from the author's book of the same name.
The collection of prints is the work of artist, exile and former political prisoner Pavel Vošický. (*11. 5. 1939). Vošický graduated from the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Turnov and was imprisoned for political reasons in 1959-1960. In the 1960s he studied at the Prague UMPRUM in the studio of prof. Adolf Hoffmeister. In the mid-1960s, he also performed as a singer with the popular ensemble Apollo (alongside, for example, Yvonne Přenosilová, Karel Gott and Eva Pilarová). He emigrated in 1969, worked as a graphic designer, participated in the US, among others, in the election campaign of Jimmy Carter, and became friends with a number of prominent Czech natives (Ivan Passer, Miloš Forman, Pavel Landovský, etc.) In 2020, he was awarded the Pavel Faireisel Fragments of Memory Prize.
The author will be present on 15 March 2022 at 6 pm to read from his humorous memoirs, published last year by the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century. The book, So Where Are the Americans? will be available for purchase throughout the exhibition.
