On 8 April 2022, the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Prague hosted a meeting between representatives of the Lithuanian Parliament and representatives of Czech and international memory institutions based in Prague. The Lithuanian delegation was represented by the Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Parliament Laima Liucija Andrikienė, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania H.E. Mgr. Laimonas Talat-Kelpšu, members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Parliament Audronius Ažubalis, Marius Matijošaitis, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lithuanian Parliament Evaldas Zelenka and Kristina Baubinaité from the Lithuanian Embassy in Prague.
Czech institutions present at the meeting were Jan Kalous, Director of the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century in Prague, Ladislav Kudrna, Director-elect of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, and Peter Rendek, Executive Director of the Platform for European Memory and Conscience.
The meeting focused on the area of historical politics with a special emphasis on coming to terms with the communist past. The exchange of experiences, institutional development and international cooperation were discussed. Committee Chair Laima Liucija Andrikienė reported that in the case of Lithuania there is a significant increase in financial support for memory institutions. Against the background of the current war conflict in Ukraine, they consider this area to be very important. Jan Kalous, Director of the Museum of Memory of the XX Century, presented the structure, current and planned activities of the museum and the medium-term vision, adding that within two years exhibition spaces should be opened in the House of the Passion.
