The Museum of Memory of the 20th Century cordially invites you to a seminar
Marshal Josef Václav Radecký and his monument in Prague
The seminar will take place under the auspices of the Deputy Mayor of Prague, JUDr. Jiří Pospíšil.
Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. / Residence of the Mayor of the Capital City. Prague Mayor of Prague
The main topic will be the personality of Marshal Josef Václav Radecký (1766-1858) and his Prague monument, created by sculptors Josef and Emanuel Max. In 1858-1919 it stood on the lower Lesser Town Square in Prague. In early November 1918 it was covered with a canvas, in May 1919 the sculpture was dismantled and in 1921 the stone base was also removed. The bronze sculptural part was dismantled and transferred to the Lapidarium of the National Museum, where it is still exhibited together with a model of the monument.
With the seminar, which will take the form of a round table, we want to contribute to a substantive discussion on the possibilities of returning this monument to its original location, which is being sought by the Radecký Prague Society.
Participation must be confirmed in advance at the following e-mail address: info@mpxx.cz.
