We cordially invite you to a debate organized by the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century at the Václav Havel Library
The Round Table as an instrument of change: central Europe in 1989.
In the late 1980s, the so-called round tables played a significant role in many Soviet bloc countries as an instrument of political and social change. A model was the meeting between the communist regime and part of the opposition in Poland in the spring of 1989, which led to the first partially free elections since the Second World War.
In this debate we will look at the causes, forms and consequences of this phenomenon.
