Pieta at Ďáblický Cemetery (26 June 2024)

At the end of June, a commemoration of the victims of the communist regime took place at Ďáblický Cemetery in Prague. The memorial to the victims is located in the immediate vicinity of the shaft graves where the remains of the murdered and martyred are buried. Historians and other experts from a government commission have been able to determine the location of the remains of some political prisoners. "For the first time we have been able to locate the shaft number for 107 victims with high probability, and for 20 of them we know the exact location," said Petr Blažek, director of the Museum of the Memory of the 20th Century, who attended the commemoration. The results of the work of the Commission for solving the issues of mass graves at Ďáblický Cemetery were reported here.
