Looking back: the final evening of the Unbreakable and Sacrificed Festival (8. 11. 2024)

At the closing night of the Unbreakable and Sacrificed Film Festival on 8 November 2024, the Future of Memory Award was presented to the best film of the student competition in front of a packed Cinema Atlas in Prague. The jury, chaired by Jiří Voráč, selected the animated film Father's Letters, made this year by director Alexey Evstigneev from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The jury also awarded two honorary awards to two other student films: The Countryman and The Silent Whisper. Helena Třeštíková received the Guardian of Memory Award from the festival's programme board for her films mapping the theme of preserving memory. The evening was moderated by Barbora Kroužková. The awards were presented by Jan Wolf, chairman of the ZHMP Cultural Committee, Hana Kordová Marvanová, chairwoman of the board of the Museum of Memory of the 20th Century and senator, Petr Januschka, director Olga Sommerová and Jiří Pospíšil, deputy mayor of Prague. Ladislav Kudrna, Director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, spoke on behalf of the festival's partner organisations. Musical compositions were performed by students of the Gymnasium and Music School of the capital city of Prague. Prague. Petr Blažek, director of the Museum of Memory of the 20th Century, and musician Michael Kocáb were invited to the next edition of the festival, which will be dedicated to alternative culture.
