On 12-14 November 2024, the Museum of the Memory of the XXth Century co-organised with the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic an international conference on (Not) Coming to Terms with the Communist Past. The conference was also co-organised by Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Czech Republic and The Remembrance Society.

The conference was under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala.
This year marks 35 years since the fall of the communist regimes in Europe. In most countries, the transfer of power took place bloodlessly, creating a completely new geopolitical situation and causing fundamental changes in the European and world order. However, the unfortunate legacy of totalitarian systems and the communist past continues to affect the functioning of young democracies to a greater or lesser extent.

Jiří Přibáň, David Satter, Igor Lukeš, and dozens of other experts, historians, political scientists, and memoirists were invited to the conference.
