Basic information

The Twentieth Century Memorial Museum is a registered institute founded by the City of Prague. Its long-term goal is to create a modern memory institution focusing on key events of the 20th century in Czechoslovakia, following the example of major foreign museum institutions (the Warsaw Uprising Museum in Warsaw, the World War II Museum in Gdańsk, the House of Terror in Budapest, the Topography of Terror in Berlin, the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and Yad Vashem in Jerusalem).

The background for the permanent exhibition will be offered by the House of the Pážat at Hradčany, which is currently being reconstructed. The Museum of the Memory of the Twentieth Century organises various events for the public: lectures, seminars, debates, conferences, a film festival, historical walks around important historical sites and various online projects. The museum's programme is available on its website and social media. The museum is headed by a director appointed by the Board of Trustees, which approves the work plan for the year and the annual report. The College is the professional advisory body to the Board of Trustees. The Supervisory Board controls the management and activities of the museum.
