Interview of historian Petr Blažek with Jolyon Naegel about the Soviet bloc. The American journalist and political analyst recalls, among other things, his trips behind the Iron Curtain, visits to Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union. The two-part interview was produced as part of the History and Context programme, produced by the Museum of Twentieth Century Memory, on the historical context of current events.
Jolyon Naegele was born on April 19, 1955 in New York City. He has been interested in Czechoslovakia and Eastern Europe since his youth. In 1973 he visited Prague for the first time. In 1980 he moved to Vienna. From 1984 to 1994 he worked for the Voice of America. He then worked at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. Since 2003, he has served as Director of the Political Affairs Office of the UN Mission in Kosovo. He lives in Prague.
