On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, we organized a historical walk around the Drumek buildings that were acquired or built by the Soviet Union before and especially after the occupation of Czechoslovakia in August 1968. Zdeněk Lukeš, an architectural historian and member of the board of the Museum of the Memory of the Twentieth Century, guided the visitors.
The walk was directed from Ovenecká Street, through Stromovka, nám. During the walk, visitors learned how the Soviet side acquired the extensive land and buildings it still uses today. Or what valuable buildings were removed and which architects were involved in the construction of the modern apartment blocks that replaced the original buildings.
You can follow the footsteps of the walk with us in the photo gallery below. The photos were taken by photographer Marta Myšková.
Thank you to everyone who participated. And we look forward to seeing you at the next historical walk!
