Some regret its demise to this day, others soon got used to it. In any case, few states in the twentieth century were able to divide peacefully. Thirty years ago, Czechoslovakia broke up and two new successor states were created. What reasons led to these events? Were there alternatives to these developments? How is Czechoslovakia now perceived by Czech and Slovak society? A debate on these topics was jointly organised by the Museum of the Memory of the 20th Century and the Václav Havel Library on 14 December 2022 at 7 pm. The guests were historian Michal Macháček and lawyer and former Constitutional Court judge Ivana Janů. The debate was moderated by historian Petr Blažek.
