Little house. Military detention prison in 1948-1950

Annotation

The subject of this publication is the functioning of the military prison from 1948 to 1950, which went down in history under the name of Domeček and still shocks with the cruel conditions that prevailed there. Many personalities of the Czechoslovak military elite, whom the communist regime rightly regarded as its opponents or tried to get rid of through false accusations, suffered within its walls. František Pergl, its sadistic warden, is inextricably linked to Domeček, as are members of the search and investigation group of the 5th Department of the Main Staff of the Ministry of National Defence, which administered the prison during the period in question. These people were personally involved in the brutal physical and psychological torture of detainees. The book, in some cases for the first time, gives a comprehensive picture of their life and career trajectories through detailed biographical medallions and clarifies whether and how they were punished for their actions. It also provides key information on those who were at their mercy as political prisoners of the totalitarian state.
