OČI STÁTNÍ BEZPEČNOST / EYES OF THE STATE SECURITY
Exhibition catalogue // Editor: Petr Blažek / Czech-English / 172 pages

The main topics of the bilingual publication are the surveillance units of the State Security Service and photographs taken by its employees during the communist regime. It presents the surveillance actions of the secret police (e.g. against Václav Havel or Jan Patoček) and describes the structures of the StB Surveillance Administration - its workers, chiefs and collaborators. The career of Antonín Kavan, who headed the surveillance unit for several decades, is presented. Attention is also paid to the intelligence technology and classified locations from where secret police personnel monitored selected objects.
KONEV: THE SOVIET MARSHAL AND HIS PRAGUE MONUMENT
Book // Authors: Petr Blazek - Jiri Fidler / Czech / 100 pages

The theme of the publication is the life story of Soviet Marshal Ivan Stepanovich Konev and the history of his propaganda monument, placed in 1980-2020 on the Interbrigade Square in Prague's Bubenč. Its authors were Zdeněk Krybus and Vratislav Růžička. It is significant that the unveiling of Koněva's statue was attended by the highest representative of the Soviet troops that occupied Czechoslovakia from August 1968. After 1989, the became monument became the subject of controversy reflecting different views of the past. The book features a number of contemporary photographs and archival documents.
CZECH UPRISING IN MAY 1945
Book // Author Frantisek Emmert / Czech / 148 pages

The subject of this book is the uprising of the Czech people against the Nazi occupation in May 1945. Although it broke out spontaneously only at the moment when the liberation from Nazism and the restoration of an independent state had already been decided, it rightly holds a very special place in our modern history. In several previous centuries no comparable event had occurred in the Czech lands. At the very end of the war, tens of thousands of people joined the fight against the German invaders with weapons in their hands and at the risk of their own lives, not only in Prague but throughout Bohemia and Moravia.
1984: GEORGE ORWELL AND CZECHOSLOVAKIA /
1984: GEORGE ORWELL AND CZECHOSLOVAKIA
Exhibition catalogue // Editor: Petr Blažek / Czech-English / 152 pages

The main themes of this publication are Czechoslovak reflections on the work of British writer George Orwell, especially his famous novels 1984 and Animal Farm. The authors of this book deal not only with exile and samizdat editions of the novels, their creation and dissemination in an unfree society, but also with works of art influenced by Orwell's work. They also pay attention to images of Orwell's 1984 in Czechoslovakia, including the repression of opponents of the communist regime and expressions of solidarity with political prisoners.

Board game // Authors: Karol Madaj, Luděk Navara, Peter Rendek, Neela Winkelmann and Petr Blažek (historical stories) / from 10 years old

In the game, players act as smugglers to help refugees from Eastern Europe get to the West in eight different ways. The game is inspired by true stories, giving players a better understanding of the reality of life under communism and the reasons why people chose to make the perilous journey.
The game is not only a good tip for intelligent family fun, but also an excellent addition to history lessons or social studies seminars. We offer one free board game and another at a discounted price to schools for these purposes.
