Our museum was founded on 17 November 2019. Since then, much has been accomplished. We have published more than two dozen books and catalogues, organized countless debates, seminars, conferences and guided tours, and prepared numerous exhibitions accompanied by didactic materials.
On the occasion of the museum's fifth anniversary, we would like to invite you to join us.

XX.: Revue of the Twentieth Century Memorial Museum

As always, you will find plenty of interesting reading in the fourth issue of the popularization review. Among other things, you will learn about the circumstances of the creation of the book Factory for Death by authors Ota Kraus and Erich Kulka, who were the first to describe the conditions that prevailed in the Auschwitz concentration camp. The article was written by Ota Kraus' son Michael. The cover of the magazine shows the two heroes in post-war Prague.
Educational board game
Across the Iron Curtain

A diversion for long winter evenings, during which the whole family will learn something. Players will be introduced to thirty stories inspired by the articles of the Declaration of Human Rights and Freedoms.
We offer one free board game and another at a discounted price to schools for educational purposes.

BELLS OF MEMORY

Bells of memory

The project commemorates personalities who stood up to totalitarian regimes and contributed to the victory of freedom and democracy in our country. Zvon Mikuláš in Prague sounds and will sound at 3 pm.

December 3 for Olga Scheinpflug,
15 December for Josef Sousedík,
December 16th for Antonín Seliger and
December 27 for Rozina Jadrna Pokorna.

COLLECTION ITEM OF THE MONTH

Mini hockey stick signed by Czechoslovak World Ice Hockey Champions from 1972

At the Prague Championship in 1972 they finished naši nine years of Soviet domination and won their first gold medals since 1949. It was a symbolic retaliation for the Soviet tanks of August 1968.

Exhibition of prints by artist, former political prisoner and exile Pavel Vošický is on display in Mělník Municipal Library in the Za Rohem Gallery. Admission is free.

During the discussion devoted to the personality of historian, writer, teacher and master of words Prof. Robert Kvacek (1932-2024), the participants debated historians Michal Macháček, Petr Koura, Josef Nožička and Josef Tomeš.

The historian David Svoboda and Lenka Víchová, a Ukrainianist and editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian Journal, discussed the events of 1989-1991 and the way in which they were perceived by Czech post-war society.

The debate was moderated by historian Kryštof Zeman and featured historian Natalie Reinsch, Polish journalist and dissident Aureliusz Marek Pędziwol, Czech historian Petr Koura and Jazz Section activist Vladimír Kouřil.
Unbreakable and Sacrificed Film Festival

The 5th edition of the international film festival took place at the beginning of November. Keep an eye on the festival's website, where reports, articles and other content documenting the festival events are being added.
