Historical Walk (15 May 2024)

We cordially invite you to a historical walk that will lead you around the buildings in Drumenec that were acquired or built by the Soviet Union before and especially after the occupation of Czechoslovakia in August 1968. The vast majority of these buildings are still used by the Russian Federation today.

A new popularization book by historians Petr Blažek and Jiří Fidler presents the life story of Marshal Konev and the context of the creation and removal of his monument in Prague. The statue of Marshal Konev will be a part of the new exhibition of the Museum of Memory of the XXth Century in the House of Pážat at Hradčany. The book can be purchased at the Kosmas bookstore.

A suitable supplement to social studies seminars, history lessons and school club programmes. In the game, students are introduced to thirty stories inspired by the articles of the Declaration of Human Rights and Freedoms. Twentieth Century Memorial Museum offers one free board game and another at a discounted price to schools for educational purposes. The game is also available at the Kosmas bookstore.

until 17 November 2024, the exhibition European GULAG. The Vojna camp belonged to the complex of forced labour camps at the Czechoslovak uranium mines between 1949 and 1951.

- On Wednesday , 29 May 2024 at 5:30 pm we invite you to the Přítomnost cinema in Dom RADOST in Prague's Žižkov district for a screening of Pavel Tigrid's The European ( 2004) followed by a debate with the director Helena Třeštíková. The debate will be moderated by historian Kryštof Zeman.
- On Wednesday 19 June 2024 at 5:30 pm we also invite you to the Přítomnost cinema in the House of Joy to see the film Plastic People of the Universe (2001). After the screening there will be a debate with the director Jana Chytilova and historian and memoirist František Stárek. Moderated by Jan Samohýl.
- On Tuesday 25 June 2024, we will be holding an opening on Kampa Island for an outdoor exhibition entitled 1984: George Orwell and Czechoslovakia | George Orwell and Czechoslovakia. The exhibition will be open on Kampa Island until 25 September 2024.
